Wine and Butter

Astor Wines is the Disneyland of wine and spirits and is one of the better wine stores in the city.

I don’t drink unless I’m dining out; however, my interest in wine has increased over the last few years and so has my education and experience. If only you could have seen me a few years ago when one glass would be enough to send me to bed. Now I can handle three or four half-glasses (or two over-topped ones).  I haven’t quite reached the point where I can go wine shopping.  Ask me again in a couple of years.

A little infused rum, anyone?

Located at 415 Lafayette Street, between Astor Place and East 4th Street, Butter is a newcomer in the East Village restaurant scene. Chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli, formerly of An American Place (New York), Guy Savoy (Paris) and Daniel, presents an eclectic modern American cuisine tempered by seasonality and global influences. I’ve marked it on my calendar for the future.
