A Food Odyssey 2

When primal Dawn spread on the eastern sky
her fingers of pink light, Odysseus’ true son
stood up, drew on his tunic and his mantle,
slung on a sword-belt and a new-edged sword,
tied his smooth feet into good rawhide sandals,
and left his room, a god’s brilliance upon him. — from The Odyssey, Book 2, lines 1 to 6

Corn maque choux (fresh corn, celery, red onion, heirloom cherry tomatoes, shallots, unsalted butter, kosher salt, black pepper, thyme, fromage blanc)
Roasted red thumb potatoes and summer squash

In other news, I had my quarterly checkup today. CD4 count is 635 and total cholesterol is 131. HDL is 49 and LDL is 72. Larry asked me if I was taking anything. I said “no”; he replied that the numbers are “stunning”. Chalk one up to good genes. 🙂

    And there,a multitude of princely plates, laden with the sack of many plundered gardens, rich in veg;
    Treasured heirlooms past counting, the fruit of mortal man, shone forth in all their great glory,
    A wonder to behold…

    this is from a rough fragment, hard to cipher,very dusty…
