Shishito peppers. These are wonderful, pan-blistered for a few minutes over high heat so that the skins turn black, and drizzled with olive oil and coarse salt. They’re sweet, with a touch of heat.

I thought about buying some but my bags were weighed down already. The irony is that by the time I got to the market today, it was already 4:30 pm — and they were still selling like hotcakes.
